Davanti a St.Andrew's Chesterton Grazie a Silvano Alboresi per il servizio fotografico dell'associazione From Chesterton Chimes : _______________________________________________________________________________________________ April 2008 - The Newsletter of St Andrew’s Church, Church Street, Chesterton - No. 1094 _________________________________________________________________________________________ St Andrew’s - Vercelli LinkChesterton has a recently revived link with the North Italian city of Vercelli. Our ancient links go back to 1217, when Henry III presented the living of Chesterton to Cardinal Gualo, a clerk of the papal legate. The moneys helped to found the Abbey of St Andrew in Vercelli, which appointed most of the vicars before the Reformation and had their own local representative who lived in Chesterton Tower. Recent links have seen parties from here visiting Vercelli and vice versa. A group of twenty visitors is coming to Chesterton on Saturday, 3 May. We will play host to them and show them around the church and area. If you would like to be involved, then please contact the vicar on 01223 303469 or vicar@standrews-chesterton.or |
